Video capability just can’t come to Prisma fast enough for some people. For band Drive like Maria, it certainly can’t. For their new video, Deep Blue, every frame was processed using the mobile app. Using a mobile app to process a video is not uncommon. When the app you’re using only works one still shot at a time, though, it’s a tedious process. It’s also a long process. The result seems worth the effort, though, at least in this case.
There are, of course, things you can do to speed up the workflow a bit. Dropping the framerate of the footage is one way. If you process at 10fps rather than 24fps, you’ve already cut your processing time to about 40%. Sharing the workload through multiple devices also brings that time down further. The footage was shot using a Sony A7S II and Canon 24-105mm f/4 with a Speed Booster. This was processed using an iPhone 6, an iPhone 6S and a Huawei P8lite. Finally the video was edited using Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
You may remember that a few weeks ago we showed you a timelapse processed with Prisma. The timelapse showed a faster video-like frame rate, but I think I actually prefer the slower frame rate in this music video. It seems to fit better with images that appear closer to animation than they are to actual video. When Prisma does finally get video capabilities, I wonder how long it’ll be before somebody remakes this one. What do you think? Have you joined in with the Prisma craze yet? Or are you still not interested? Let us know in the comments. [via No Film School]
