Just as I was starting to write up this post about Nokishita leaking the photos of the upcoming black Leica D-Lux 7, it popped up as being available to pre-order at B&H. For a rather modest, given Leica prices, $1,195 ($200 less than the original silver version). Yes, this isn’t an entirely new camera, just a new look for an existing camera. The original silver model was released in 2018, but the new all-black version is a little more low key and possibly better suited to keeping a low profile when shooting things like street photography. It houses a 17-megapixel Four Thirds sensor and a non-removable 10.9-34mm f/1.7-2.8 lens offering a field of view equivalent to 24-75mm on full-frame.
It’s interesting that the new black version of the D-Lux 7 comes in at a lower price than the original currently sells for, given that most Leica colour variants are usually significantly more than the original versions. It’s also worth noting that the original silver D-Lux 7 was also $1,195 at launch but currently sits at $1,395. But, the new black edition Leica D-Lux 7 is available to pre-order now for $1,195. No word on exactly when it’ll ship yet beyond “soon”.
