The original Litra Torch was a very decent little light. Aimed at action and adventure action camera shooters, it offered a lot of punch for its small size. Now, Litra is back with the new Litra Torch 2.0, offering more LEDs, improved CRI and better waterproofing. DIYP caught up with Litra at NAB 2019 to find out more.

Litra Torch 2.0 – $90

The Litra Torch 2.0 contains the same LED lenses as the Litra Pro, which allows for less glare, a more concentrated beam angle and much better colour accuracy, bringing the CRI up from around 70 to a very impressive 94. The number of LEDs has also increased to help eliminate some of those hotspot and multiple-shadow issues some users experienced when using them close up on a subject.

The form factor is the same as the original Litra Torch, so if you’re upgrading to the 2.0, all your existing gel kits and addons will still fit. It features a pair of 1/4-20″ tripod sockets underneath and on the rear of the unit and, like the original, has a magnetic back for sticking to metal surfaces.

Litra Pro – $220

The Litra Pro has been out for a little while ow, and is one of the most impressive small LED lights I’ve ever seen. I’ve got two of them and I use them at least once or twice a week for lighting quick product photos and shooting macro video. We were actually using one of my Litra Pros with the small softbox during the video you see above to add a little frontal fill light onto myself and Andrew. They go in my camera bags with me everywhere, because you never really know when you might need just a little more light.
