Rumored way back in summer 2019, Fujifilm X100V is finally out. It’s the fifth-generation of the X100 series, and just like its predecessors, it’s a fixed lens camera. Still, it brings some improvements over its big brothers, including 4K video, 26MP sensor, and improved AF. So let’s see what the latest “everyday camera” from Fujifilm has to offer.
Just like its predecessors, the Fujifilm X100V is aimed at street photographers and all of you who want to shoot every day and always have the camera at hand. It features a 26.1MP APS-C sensor, a slight bump from the 24.3 MP in the X100F.
The Fujifilm X100V features a hybrid autofocus system that combines 425 phase-detection points with a contrast-detection system. For comparison, the X100F utilizes 91 total points, including 49 phase-detection points. When it comes to the lens, the “recipe” stays pretty much the same, only a bit upgraded. The Fujifilm X100V features a fixed updated Fujinon 23mm f/2, but it’s been redesigned. It now includes two aspherical elements for improved sharpness and clarity through the reduction of spherical aberrations and distortion. Combined with the camera’s APS-C sensor, the lens’s 23mm focal length is equivalent to 35mm. You can use the camera’s digital teleconverter and simulate 50mm and 75mm-equivalent focal length. Another improvement is seen in continuous shooting. The new Fujifilm X100V offers up to 11 fps with the mechanical shutter, whereas its predecessor allowed up to 8fps. The ISO range has also been slightly adjusted, and it’s now between 160 and 12800 instead of 200 to 12800. And finally, one of the biggest improvements is the 4K video. Unlike its predecessor, the Fujifilm X100V is capable of shooting up to DCI 4K at 30 fps. Here’s the first look at the Fujifilm X100V:
Here are the full specs so you can see all that this tiny camera offers: And here are a few more photos: The Fujifilm X100V looks like a capable little camera, and I also love its design. However, it’s not really cheap, at least for my standards: it costs $1,399. Still, it could be a great companion in your everyday life, for both stills and video shooting. If you wanna grab yours, Black and Silver versions are ready for preorders and the shipping begins on 27 February.
